Answers
1  General Question
1.1 What is VoiceCenter?
Ans: VoiceCenter is a Microsoft Response Point phone system that is innovative, easy to use and designed specifically for small businesses. VoiceCenter offers small business customers a simplified phone experience. As a user, you can use the phone and its features with just your voice. For an administrator, Response Point’s management console allows you to complete phone moves, additions or changes with a few quick and easy mouse clicks. There is no special phone training or networking expertise required. For a small business owner, VoiceCenter offers a complete phone system at an affordable price that grows with your business.
1.2 Isn’t this just another PBX system? What makes it different?
Ans: VoiceCenter offers top quality speech recognition capabilities, which transforms the calling experience, making it more intuitive for all users. VoiceCenter also enables a small business to manage its phone system in-house, without the need to call in specialized IT support for such things as staffing-related additions, changes or moves.
1.3 How would you define a small business that would benefit from VoiceCenter?
Ans: VoiceCenter can benefit small businesses with as few as 3 employees and has the ability to grow with their business, with a maximum of 50 users.
1.4 Would a business with more than 100 people benefit from this product?
Ans: VoiceCenter is optimized for small to medium businesses. We believe that VoiceCenter is most efficient for small businesses, and we are targeting companies with fewer than 50 users.
1.5 In which countries will VoiceCenter be available?
Ans: VoiceCenter will be available to Canadian small businesses this year.
1.6 Will VoiceCenter work with Vonage (or Covad, Packet8, Skype, etc.)?
Ans: We are not announcing service provider relationships at this time.
1.7 How can I reach the party I want to speak to?
Ans: You can dial by extension or use the voice recognition feature to ask for your party by full name, nickname, or extension.
1.8 Can I configure specific outside numbers to dial in directly to extensions?
Ans: Yes. Just configure direct dial-in through the management console.

2  Features
2.1 What features does VoiceCenter offer that go beyond a standard phone system?
Ans: VoiceCenter transforms the management and phone user experience from end to end.

  • VoiceCenter brings top quality speech recognition to the phone experience, allowing users to embrace phone features that were previously cumbersome or complicated to use. Just say “transfer my call to Joe” instead of memorizing the right call transfer keystrokes and Joe’s extension number. Call anyone in the company, or any of your Outlook contacts, just by saying a name.

  • VoiceCenter offers a helpful, automated receptionist that is fully customizable (record your own voice and company message), including the ability to add FAQ about your business (e.g. ,your hours, location, etc). Callers need only speak their desired party’s name and they will be transferred to that extension.

  • Administrators can easily complete moves, adds and changes with a few simple mouse clicks. The whole system can be managed by an average PC user rather than by a phone networking specialist.

2.2 Why can’t I use the office phones I already have with VoiceCenter?
Ans: We are committed to top quality and simplicity for our customers. By utilizing the phone hardware that corresponds with the base unit, the customer can have the best end-to-end experience.

3  Purchase/Cost
3.1 How and when can a small business purchase this product?
Ans: VoiceCenter will be generally available later this year. Expect to see more information regarding specific channel availability over the next few months.
3.2 How will VoiceCenter save my small business time and money?
Ans: VoiceCenter saves small businesses time and money in three ways:

  • It reduces phone system management costs by empowering average PC users to complete moves, adds and changes without expensive onsite support.

  • It lets small businesses slash their phone bills by using VoIP to cut long distance bills and eliminate unnecessary local lines without forcing them to abandon their traditional phone service.

  • It eliminates many expensive phone system extras – expansion packs, hours of employee training, and so on. – that typically add thousands to the cost of a small business phone system.

3.3 Is VoiceCenter a SIP-based (or VoIP) phone system? [Alternatively, Is VoiceCenter an IP PBX?]
Ans: VoiceCenter is a SIP-based small business phone system that supports both traditional phone service and voice-over-IP.

4  Technical
4.1 Do I have to configure each phone manually?
Ans: No. The phones will send an auto discovery message to the DVX-2000MS letting it know it is available for configuration.
4.2 How do I retrieve voicemail?
Ans: Press the Response Point button, after the tone, say "Voicemail".
